Our Curriculum consists of eight pillars presented in a progression of topics, covering an introduction, to culture, through to present day living. Each pillar can be delivered as a ‘standalone’ module but together they comprise our comprehensive package.
Our curriculum encourages participants to be curious about our joint histories, and our separate pathways: from the point of contact in 1770, to contemporary Australia in 21st century. The way we draw deeply from the presenters’ personal and professional life experiences, bringing an authentic offering, is unique – a highlight for participants has been the opportunity to engage with the precious Aboriginal Grannies group of western and northern Adelaide, who share their lived experiences through an Interactive panel forum.
Delivery is unrushed, unbiased, respectful, discussed in an open manner, which participants have told us is engaging, enjoyable, thought provoking and challenging. Delivery Is also experiential and interactive, with small and whole group activities, scenario analysis, structured simulations, Q&A sessions, and panel presentations. We know participants learn best in a safe and inclusive workshop environment so they can take the time to listen to understand and then respond rather than hear to respond without time to consider context or contents. We will cover individual learning objectives, progressive development of content, and a proven teaching methodology.
Evaluations and feedback have demonstrated that participants go on to apply what they have learned In their everyday lives, including in interactions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
